Pastor Peter Phillips became the pastor of Smithfield Baptist Church in January, 2021. He is a native of Anaheim, CA. He served 5 years in the United States Marine Corps as an Avionics and Radar Technician for F-18s. He has a Master’s degree in Theology from Talbot Theological Seminary. He has a passion for biblical preaching and discipleship in the local church, as well as local evangelism and global missions. 

Peter became a Christian during his time in the Marines. He was hostile to Christianity and then God opened his eyes to the truth of the gospel. He was saved in March of 2001. 

Since that time, Peter has made it his resolve to study the Bible, preach the gospel, and disciple other Christians. He loves to read and chat in the local coffee shops. 

God has blessed him with a wonderful wife, Clarissa, who was praying for his salvation long before they met. She is his best friend and his greatest joy next to knowing Jesus. Together they have three beautiful kiddos, Isaiah, Josiah and Abigail. 

They currently live in Shelbyville, KY, and love to take walks, read books and are big fans of The Chronicles of Narnia.
