Below is a short message from Caleb Potts who just finished his freshman year at the University of the Cumberland’s and is a member at Smithfield Baptist. Caleb came home with this on his heart one weekend this spring and we’re acting on his conviction.
Dear fellow believers,
Today’s young people aren’t interested in Church or Christians nor do they see why we live like we do, plain and simple. The kids that are always in church and profess Christ as their Lord are massively outnumbered by those that stay away and do not. A majority of kids have the preconception, misconception, that the church and those in it aren’t fun, and can’t have fun. Most believe we just are just about rules, boredom and judgement.
This event was created to disprove that myth. Meet kids where they are, show them love, and have fun. Whether we mean to or not, they feel like they don’t belong in our churches or that they aren’t good enough. Our goal is that they see Christ in us as He draws them to Himself.
In His love,
